With Valentine’s day just a few days away, this is the perfect opportunity to spice things up in your love life! <3
Unfortunately, when it comes to “intimate” products they’re often loaded with chemicals and other products that you often even find in industrial cleaning products…um…no thanks! Especially when it comes to products for sensitive areas, you really want to make sure you’re using safe and natural products that won’t cause irritation or infections.
My personal favorite products to use are essential oils. Essential oils not only support and help our bodies heal on a physical level, but they also have a huge impact on our emotional and energetic levels. They can also help in healing the heart and release emotional blocks which can often affect us in ways we’re not aware, especially in our love lives.
So adding in essential oils into the bedroom can add a whole different dimension to your sex life!
Adding in essential oils to increase sensuality and libido is nothing new and they have been used for thousands of years in this manner. But I love how the recent essential oil revolution is bringing us back to ancient healing therapies and as you know I embrace anything holistic with open arms.
There are 2 main ways you can incorporate essential oils in the bedroom: aromatically and topically.
When it comes to aromatic application, you just have to look at the various ads for perfumes to know that sex and smells go hand in hand. My goal it to help remove the toxic xenoestrogens and hormone mimicking products in conventional perfumes, that in the long run will cause other complicated health products that I won’t go into today, and give you a pure-fume experience. 😉
Talking about the science for a second, the aromatic compounds of the essential oils affect the limbic part of our brain. The primary structures within the limbic system include the amygdala, hippocampus, thalamus, hypothalamus, basal ganglia, and cingulate gyrus. The amygdala is the emotion center of the brain, while the hippocampus plays an essential role in the formation of new memories about past experiences.
So in the brain, the hypothalamus is directly related to hormone control and it regulates sex drive, energy levels, and production of hormones. Essential oils will impact the hypothalamus in different ways, in our case today we’re looking for romance and excitement!
Now when it comes to topical application of essential oils, you can wear the oil blends when needed, or even daily to help with hormonal balancing. But my favorite topical application is of course via massage! Xoxo
Not only can your partner help rub away stress and tension, but it also provides grounds for perfect reconnection with each other again. Whether you’re giving a foot massage or a full body massage, essential oils are a perfect addition. You will get all the same benefits of the aromatic use as well as additional topical stimulation.
For a foot massage, make sure you pay extra special attention to the heal as well as the middle of the foot, just under the ball of the foot, and the inside of the ankle. These acupressure points help to stimulate our erotic zones.
For a back massage, paying extra attention to the lower back and sacrum area is key!
Now, because essential oils can be very powerful, it’s important that you use a pure and trusted brand. I personally recommend doTERRA essential oils because they are not only 100% pure, third party tested, safe, natural, and free from contaminants/synthetics/filler, but they’re also the highest therapeutic grade available in the market. So not only are we working with a pure product, but one with the highest healing powers! Double BAM!
